Razer’s new mouse is built for budget gaming

If you do a lot of gaming on your Mac or PC, a $10 mouse from Walmart isn’t going to cut it. But that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank on something super-fancy, either.

The Abyssus Essential, Razer’s newest mouse, has everything the average gamer needs — and it’s ideal for buyers on a budget.

You can find all kinds of weird and wonderful gaming mice if you shop around. Some abuse your eyeballs with bright LEDs; others pack more buttons than you’ll ever need inside most games. But there are some that do the basics brilliantly without the expensive bloat.

Razer’s Abyssus Essential mouse won’t break the bank

The Abyssus Essential falls into the latter category. It aims to hit the sweet spot between being affordable and reliable by doing away with the frills to concentrate on becoming a trust gaming companion that won’t let you down when you require speed and accuracy.

With a 7200 DPI optical sensor, the Abyssus Essential is ideal for fast-paced shooters. Its “comfortable ambidextrous form factor” means you don’t have to worry about which hand you use with it, and its 2.1-meter cable is more than enough for the average gaming setup.

Because it’s a Razer mouse, the Abyssus Essential is complemented by LEDs that you can customize using Razer’s own Synapse software. There’s a whopping 16.8 million colors to choose from, plus a bunch of different effects, so you shouldn’t get bored of the same old look.

That’s about as much as you get with Razer’s newest entry-level mouse. It offers just two buttons and a scroll wheel — there are no additional shortcuts or DPI switches — and you don’t have to worry about changing its batteries because a cable connection is the only option.

But that might not worry you when you consider the Abyssus Essential is just $50. It might not be the cheapest mouse out there, but when you compare it with high-end gaming options, it’s a decent price for an established brand.
