PUBG is getting updates for its different platforms in the form of limited-time event modes, as well as improved performance on Xbox One.
Following in the footsteps of Fortnite, Event Mode is “a periodically changing preset Custom Game” where the devs will be “trying new things and experimenting with different game parameters” with the new content “available in the game only for a limited time,” according to the announcement.
The first limited time mode is going to be pretty basic, and will pit teams of eight players against each other, with the rifle drop rate doubled. If you think it doesn’t sound all that different from the usual fare, you’d be right, but bigger things are planned for future modes.
Event Mode will be unranked, but players will still earn BP. The downside is that Event Modes will rely on matchmaking, rather than allowing you to buddy-up with players on your friend list. We also got a tease for the next limited-time mode, that will utilise the recently added flare gun.
Meanwhile, console players will be pleased to hear that the latest Xbox updatewill improve performance and stability on the platform as well as changing inventory management, so that both menu-navigation and loadout changes will be significantly more speedy.
Players can also pick up the PUBG5 varsity jacket later today. It’ll be located in the in-game inventory under the customisation tab.
The PUGB mobile game, announced last year, is now available to download internationally, following the Android beta test on March 15. We did a graphics comparison of the PC and iOS version that you can take a look at right here.
